Battle For The Bay is back for year 2!! Come out on Sunday, January 21, 2024 for what will be an even bigger and better homerun party! Last year 1,800 fans filled the Plant High School baseball and softball fields for an afternoon of fun, food, and lots of homers! 60 participants from local little leagues and travel teams took the field for baseball and softball home run derbies across five age divisions. The winners walked away with signed bats from Pete, replica homerun derby chains, and more. After the kids hit and trophies presented, several current and former MLB players joined Pete in a homerun derby of their own, all on the same field where Pete played in high school. 

It's all happening again, but this year, the place to be is Armature Works along the downtown portion of Hillsborough River where fans will see some splashes as Pete and MLB friends hit it out of the park!

The Alonso Foundation is proud to announce that the proceeds of the event continue to be an annual grant to the City of Tampa for youth field refurbishment and enhancements so that kids have fun and SAFE places to enjoy the game of baseball/softball.
